What to see in Bellver de Cerdanya<\/h1>\n\n

Visiting ancient history and discovering everything it has to tell us is one of those things that is worth doing from time to time. And if history is what we want to see, we can't think of any better place than Bellver de Cerdanya. A municipality in the province of Lleida full of monuments, towers and churches, many of them declared Asset of Cultural Interest <\/strong>by UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n

Vall de l'Ingla:<\/h3>\n\n

In the L'Ingla River Valley there is a large rocky cliff one hundred meters long full of cavities and holes, which were the habitat of small prehistoric communities. In fact, a group of speleologists found a set of paintings<\/strong>, which later in 1988 were listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n

The drawings form a total of 12 figures<\/strong> that correspond to an indeterminate time between the Final Bronze Age and the Iron Age, that is, between 1500 and 700 BC. c.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Jail Tower:<\/h3>\n\n

A ancient tower<\/strong> located to the east, approximately 15 meters high<\/strong>. Of Gothic style, it was built in the 13th century, considered \u201cthe century of castles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Today, it is a monument declared Asset of Cultural Interest and Cultural Asset of National Interest.<\/p>\n\n

Church of Santa Mar\u00eda de Tall\u00f3:<\/h3>\n\n

On the left bank of the Segre river, is the Church of Santa Mar\u00eda de Tall\u00f3. It was formerly known as \u201cSanta Mar\u00eda Cabanaria\u201d, due to the many shepherds' huts that were around it, and in 1993 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. Count with one 22 meter high bell tower<\/strong> and a sacristy, which were added in the 17th century.<\/p>\n\n

Church of Sant Juli\u00e0 de Pedra:<\/h3>\n\n

In the population of stone<\/strong>, perched on a hill, we find the Church of Sant Juli\u00e0 de Pedra. It has not had a good life, given that in the 12th century it was sacked by the Albigensians, who took wheat, flour and a book from the priest. In 1936, during the Spanish Civil War<\/strong>, was looted again and a terrible fire destroyed its cover. Luckily, in 1984, after having undergone restoration thanks to the Generalitat of Catalonia, it was declared a national historical-artistic monument.<\/p>\n\n

Church of Santa Eug\u00e9nia de Nerell\u00e0:<\/h3>\n\n

The Romanesque Church of Santa Eug\u00e9nia de Nerell\u00e0 has a mixture of both Romanesque and Baroque styles. The current building is built on the old church, renovated in the 18th century and taking advantage of the previous structure. In December 1984, it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and Historical Heritage of Spain.<\/p>\n\n

It may seem like a Church like any other, but the curious thing is that its bell tower is tilted<\/strong> towards the southeast with about 1.20 meters of fall due to a great height of 18.50 meters. This is why it is often known as \u201cthe tower of Pisa in Cerdanya<\/em><\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n
